Ohme 1

Challenge

Ohme's internal digital content teams required input from developers to make simple content changes and updates to their website, preventing them from being able to market their product range and benefits to their customers in a timely manner.

 

Their ambition was to create a website that would give their marketing team the flexibility to make content and design changes in line with business needs, while also keeping their customers at the heart of the experience. With plans to expand into new international markets, it was important that Ohme's website would be fully responsive, combining fast speeds with market specific content and languages.

Discovery

We launched our research phase through conducting stakeholder and user interviews, mapping user journeys, and creating a high-level content map of the Ohme site to identify user pain points and areas for improvement. Using data from this research to inform design exploration, we refined an initial prototype, which was then tested by users via UserZoom in order to understand brand and product comprehension, and usability.

 

Candyspace led a CMS evaluation process to support Ohme with selecting the right platform to serve and anticipate their future customer and business needs. WordPress was selected as the right solution to build Ohme's new site, due to its flexibility and ease of use, with WP Engine as the selected hosting partner to deliver a highly robust, secure and scalable solution to support Ohme's expansion into new markets.

Solution

We designed and developed a number of features to improve user experience across the site. We implemented a refined set of highly performant modules to include a multi-source video player, an in-depth step-by-step guide system and an advanced sitewide search, to allow Ohme to better engage with their customers. These were all powered by the Gutenberg block editor in WordPress, allowing for a simple yet powerful editing experience for the Ohme team.

Results

Candyspace supported Ohme's expansion into new markets through the new highly performant websites that halved page load time and increased average site performance score by 31% compared to Ohme's previous site. Ohme is now the fastest-growing home EV charger in the UK and Ireland and the number two home EV charger in Europe.
