One avatar, five personalities, 100’s of engaged attendees
Launching their all new CRM portfolio - C/4HANA - comprising five customer experience (CX) clouds, SAP created their CX Live event in Barcelona. Their challenge was to ensure maximum engagement from the invited audience, and to be able to measure that engagement providing invaluable post event crm data. Our solution - an avatar ‘companion guide’ to live inside a bespoke event app.
We defined key ‘personality traits’ for the avatar, and then developed a single base character model with five colour variants - one each to represent the CX clouds - and a series of de-cals.

Gamification driving engagement
We defined key ‘personality traits’ for the avatar, and then developed a single base character model with five colour variants - one each to represent the CX clouds.
To gamify the experience and encourage attendees to explore, Candyspace designed ‘accessories’ representing each CX cloud. These could be added to their avatar after they’d spent the required learning time at the relevant cloud stand. The avatars were animated to dance or wave, to entertain attendees and to celebrate when accessories were added. We also used them to promote the event in video content for social media, and we built an AR version of the avatar to guide attendees through the event for a more personalised experience.
Measurable results and data acquisition
The app contained an AR scanner which ensured real measurable engagement and drove real results and the acquisition of valuable data. 60% of attendees downloaded the app with 2,648 active participants. The AR scanner was used 6,544 times, evidencing how visitors loved having a personal event guide, and how Candyspace had found the sweetspot.
